Language Work in Community

ARDS has been visiting many communities to hear how we can help people with their language work: looking after many languages for the future. We have been sitting with elders and families asking for their ideas. Here is an example of the conversations we have had:

“Nhaltjana dhu ŋunhi napurr ARDS-thuny guŋga’yun. Ga ŋäŋ’thun napurr dhu yolnha yolŋuny dhäruk-waṯaŋuny wo ŋayi djuŋgaya ŋurukiyi dhäruk-waṯaŋuw?

Nhaltjan dhu ŋunhi napurr bala ŋanya djorra’lil wo dhipal radio-lil galkanmirr rirrakay?

Bili yaka napurr dhu ŋunhi dhä-babalany galkan ŋunhi napurr dhu yaka yoranhapuy dhäwu märram, ya balanya?

Napurr dhu ŋunhi nhumalaŋ ŋäthil galkun ŋunhi dhika nhämunha’ 5 community-ŋur ŋunhi limurr nhina.

Napurrdja dhu nhumalaŋ buthuru-bitjun ARDS-puydja yolŋu mala ŋunhi ga djäma dhiyaŋ bala ŋunhal.”

We’re excited to do more language work together in the next couple of years.
