World Premier: Bulunu Milkarri, Songlines on Screen
After much dedicated work and invested passion, ARDS was thrilled that our new documentary, Bulunu Milkarri: A story of sky, sea and spirit had its world premier in Sydney on 9 June 2015. It screened at the Sydney Film Festival alongside other films from Screen Australia and NITV's fantastic 'Songlines on Screen' initiative.
This beautifully produced film documents one woman’s journey to learn an endangered songline from remote Arnhem Land that explores cycles of death, life, rain, tears, and the replenishment and abundance of land, sea and spirit, and the quest to ensure this ancient songline is practiced for generations to come. The Bulunu songline belongs to the Djambarrpuyŋu (Djambarrpuyngu) clan of the Yolŋu (Yolngu) Nation of northeast Arnhem Land.
Produced by ARDS, Bulunu Milkarri was written, directed and narrated by ARDS Media Officer and Educator, Sylvia Nulpinditj, and the role of producer was taken by Gaia Osborne, ARDS Manager of Multimedia Productions.
