International win for Bulunu Milkarri

International win for Bulunu Milkarri

In October last year, Bulunu Milkarri a film directed by Sylvia Nulpinditj won the 2015 Best Indigenous Language Production Award at the imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival,Toronto Canada. ImagineNATIVE is the largest festival of its kind and an international hub for creative excellence and innovation in the media arts.

In June this year Bulunu Milkari was shown as a part of the landmark series ‘Songlines on Screen’ on NITV.

The Bulunu songline belongs to the Djambarrpuyŋu clan of the Yolŋu Nation of north east Arnhem Land.

Indigenous Songlines connect us all, not only those whose ancestors walked this land but also those who now share it, simply because we too call this land home. Indigenous Songlines are more than mythical stories; they are the spirit of this first nation's peoples and must be preserved, told and retold.
