Garma Festival 2015 – Live Festival Coverage and Sound Crew!

Yolŋu Radio (Yolngu Radio) is proud to announce a successful partnership with the Yothu Yindi Foundation at Garma Festival 2015.

Yolŋu Radio live festival coverage

Yolŋu Radio broadcast live from Garma Festival over the 4 days of the festival with a great team of broadcasters bringing all the action of the festival, sharing buŋgul, bands and interviews with festival goers and guests. This was our first Outside Broadcast made possible thanks to ABA. The new OB system worked very well and our broadcasters were operating the new desk in a flash!

Yolŋu Radio Rirrakay Mala Rocks Garma Main Stage

Yolŋu Radio also provided the PA, lighting and crew for the main stage and the Youth stage and the music coordinator for Garma was our Gayŋuru (Gaynguru) Studio's coordinator, Ahva, who did an excellent job!

The Yolŋu Radio Rirrakay Mala (sound crew) was capacity building in action! Every position covered by a professional operator and a Yolŋu trainee. Yolŋu trainees were feeling confident in each of their roles before the weekend was out and this is just the first step in our Rirrakay Mala delivering professional sound services across the region.

ARDS acknowledges the support of the Northern Territory Government for supporting employment of new Yolŋu staff at Gayŋuru Studio's, whom are an important part of Yolŋu Radio and the Rirrakay Mala. Yolŋu Radio also wishes to express thanks to Gove FM and the Arnhem Club for their contributions in equipment and logistics that helped the main stage to rock out all weekend with a feast of music from across Arnhem Land and beyond.
