ARDS nominated for national award

Hot on the heels of Yolŋu Radio presenter Sylvia Nulpinditj winning a major award at the recent Remote Indigenous Media Festival, the ARDS Ancient Languages project was nominated in the “Best Language/Culture Production” Award category at the recent First Nations Media Awards in Alice Springs. The project team of Bulkanhawuy, Yirriṉiṉba, Djimbuluku, Bananaki, Gawura, Hannah and Andrew have been recording Yolŋu stories and women’s songs in communities throughout northeast Arnhem Land since 2017. An earlier release from the Ancient Languages project, Buku-waṯthunawuy Nininyŋu Rom, won the Traditional Music Award at 2018 National Indigenous Music Awards.
